ARCTOSTAPHYLOS uva-ursi

Evergreen, salt-tolerant, low-grower that spreads 3-6 ft. Prefers poor, well-drained soils. Plants should not be fertilized. Drought tolerant once established. Flowers are white tinged with pink in spring, followed by red berry-like drupes in late summer/early fall. Butterflies and hummingbirds go for the flowers; bears, birds and small mammals love the fruits.
